9-2-08

Good Tuesday Morning,

I hope your long Labor Day Weekend was restful and you are ready to go today. I am so looking forward to having Ms. Dawson come into math class today and tomorrow and help set us up with some technology.
The agenda for the day will be to use this new technology in interpreting graphs (bar graphs, line graphs, histograms, scatter plots, box and whisker and stem and leaf plots). When do we use graphs, why do we use these, are some graphs better to use for different information than others, what makes a good graph, and how would use use graphs to mis- represent your information. Along with the vocabulary associated with graphs: mean, median, mode, frequency tables, data set, you will be making slides to make this meaningful.

SO.... on your team graph, you need to make 12-15 slides for Project 1.1

The last slide should be Work Cited-make sure you copy the url (cite)as you take from the internet

The first slide should be an introduction of the project on graphs
- Who team is and period (First names only)
-What project is about- ( types of graphs)
- What makes a good slide(labels, equal increments,etc)
- How are the graphs related? ( line and scatter)

The 2-8 slides should be( in any order): Include examples and vocabulary (data set, mean, median , mode, range, frequency table)that pertains to graphs.
Line graphs
Bar graphs
Histogram
Pie
Box and Whisker Plot
Stem and Leaf Plot
Scatter Plot

Slide #9 is a conclusion - summation about your project.
-What did you learn
- How can graphs be skewed to reflect your needs

Slides 10-15- Creative Parts-Strut your stuff!!!

Make sure that each partner in the team has all the new information daily.

Due Date is this Friday(September 5) at the end of the class!

Flash Drives are going to make this easier to work at home and in partners, so bring one in daily.

Have a great day and can't wait to see you in math class.
Mrs.Charle McAtee

I enjoyed doing this project because it made me think about all of the things that I learned last year, a very good start to the year.
